We got ONE!

Scotter Libby has indeed been indicted on two counts of false statements, two counts of perjury, and one count of obstruction in relation to Valerie Plame leak case...

more as the day progresses...*not sure that's champagne worthy but there ought to at least be some sparkling wine floating around...*

Is it wrong of me....?

to want an indictment for my birthday? Apparently, Scooter Libby will most likely be indicted today and the investigation of Karl Rove will continue as it does indeed appear that he and Cheney hid intelligence about Iraq...

2pm people, the indictments will go down...get out your bingo card...

well what can ya say...

If you've been under a rock all day, then you may have missed the news this morning that Harriet Miers withdrew her nomination. Apparently, Ms. Miers called George last night and then submitted her letter of withdrawl to the president this morning. I was headed for the subway on my way to a sign up for a chorus call when just before hitting the stairs I heard the "breaking news" on NPR...

I actually wanted to announce it on the train...but then I thought about how the Republicans have all been saying that in general Americans don't care about this over the CIA-Leak case...and then I got to the Equity building and while waiting with some other women to sign up for this chorus call, I just said, "Well for anyone cares, Harriet Miers just withdrew her nomination..." and I got gasps "NO! Really?" and "WHY? Did they say why?" and "Are you serious? When did that happen?"...now, all kinds come through the Equity lobby, and actors in New York are rarely natives...and I can honestly say after the reaction I got there this morning, that these Americans care. (yet we'll still get called latte liberals cause we're in New York City and are actors...)

Apparently, George very reluctantly accepted Miers withdrawal, which is not surprising, but I can't be sure if it's more due to his being angry at the Senate for forcing his hand, or because he's gotta do this all over again and doesn't want to deal with the work ("it's hard work!"). He is blaming the Senate though, to which all I can say it "Dude, you fed this monster. You don't like it, you kill it..."

The one problem with Miers withdrawing though is, whoever George nominates next, could, and most likely will be worse...yikes!

not yet...

yep, put away your Indictment Bingo card for the time being as, according to CNN, Fitzgerald's office has no plans to announce indictments today...but it doesn't mean you can't place your bets
...

It appears Fitz is focusing more on Rove right now as the investigation clock ticks, just intensifying the White House anxiety..

IN THE MEANTIME...The GOP is seriously fighting the Harriet Miers nomination...like SERIOUSLY...which has made me twitch a little from the get go as their reasoning (she's not one of ours) has not exactly been what I consider kosher (such as her not knowing BASIC facts of Constitutional Law...and thinking that Bush is the "most intelligent man [she's] ever met"), but then again, if it makes her withdraw...

What I love though is that despite the fact that in '89, she told an anti-choice group that she'd support a ban on abortion, and apparently Ken Mehlman and others on a White House conference call all believe that she will do the "right thing" about abortion and "not legislate from the bench", there are now these speeches she made in the 90's which she submitted to the judical committee that show she has supported Hillary Clinton AND Kay Bailey Hutchinson, AND is big on "self-determination"...

"This concept of self-determination could clearly be read in support for things like abortion or same-sex marriage, and it's a philosophy that cuts a judge loose from the Constitution." says one legal analyst.

No wonder the GOP is so scared. She really could be a swing voter...but I still don't think I could trust her as far as I could throw her...particulary if she needs a "crash course in Constitutional Law" (said Arlen Specter....and she thinks George is brilliant...GAH!)

AND...yesterday, we reached the 2,000 mark of military deaths in Iraq. The NY Times has a whole section devoted to pictures of all those we've lost in this petty excuse for a war. Honor the soldiers tonight at a vigil tonight and let the White House know that we are paying attention...and counting...and want to support our troops..by sending them home properly.

Rosa Parks

Light a candle for this woman who lit the fire under the Civil Rights Movement.

Vigils tomorrow!

Yep, Code Pink will have theirs, and MoveOn has numerous others...and if you can find one, you can host one. I definitely plan on showing up at the Code Pink at the Times Square Army Recruiting Office. We've hit 2,000, there are going to be more, and we need to let the Administration understand that we are indeed paying attention.

look for your rally...

According to Faithful America, we've lost our 2,000th soldier in Iraq...

2000 U.S. Soldiers Have Now Died in Iraq.

"It is with deep regret that we announce that the 2000th U.S. soldier has died in Iraq. This is more than a tragic milestone in our nation's history. It is an occasion of profound loss for our nation and the world. When a single life is lost – whether that of a soldier or one of the estimated 30,000 innocent children, women, and men in Iraq caught in the crossfire – we lose more than a life. We lose a part of our future – all of the people who might have been touched, helped, and enriched by those whom the world will never again see. We lose part of our promise of a better world. We lose a part of ourselves, for as nearly every faith tradition teaches, we are all one."

Most likely I'll here from Code Pink about the rally they plan on having in Times Square tomorrow...something we shouldn't have to have...

Peace -Alex

It's Plamegate Telephone!

Somehow, in the midst of all the people this went through, Libby saying that he got his information from "Dick Cheney" got turned into he got his information from "a reporter"...but then again, no one thought about the notes from Scooter's meeting with Cheney about this...except for Patrick Fitgerald who has had them from the get-go, even when Libby told the grand jury that he got his info from journalists...and Dick says that he got his info from George "they actually gave me a MEDAL!" Tenet.

*who else is hearing choruses of "who's sorry now?"*

I think that song could also apply to the Harriet Miers nomination as Bush has gone so far as to refuse to give up papers on their conversations *he stands there, stamping his foot "NO!", then covers his ears-again-shouting "LALALALALALA I can't hear you!!!!"*

And as they hook up the Jack Daniels IV to the Oval Office desk chair, the military death toll in Iraq as of this morning was 1,999.

All right, more later, but for the time being, it's time to find out if I need to tape the windows here at work...the wind here is RIDICULOUS!

Happy Fitzmas!!

Yes, apparently Idictment Bingo at Fitzmas is just getting everybody breaking out the White House Rose Garden holly and singing Fitzmas carols as the idictments could go down any time now...you bet we're watching Patrick Fitzgerald's website for news...And as WFUV here does do NPR on the hour, hopefully the news will break here as well...I say nothing til I actually hear it's for sure...but I won't deny that-premature it may be-I'll be tempted to crack open one of the leftover bottles of champagne in the office fridge...

ANYWAY...the GOP spin machine is, of course working on overdrive trying to say that if Rove and Libby are indeed indicted, yet not for the actual crime, but just conspiracy, that it won't be a big deal. 'They'll be saying it's like Martha Stewart's conviction...' one reporter on the news this morning mentioned, adding, 'but Martha did go to jail...'" *oooh I hope I hope I hope...I admit it, I'd like to see those boys sporting orange jumpsuits...*

AND...cause they just won't let go, Harriet Miers...it does not look good. But Bush just won't go and find somebody else...he's gonna try to force this through like his Social Security plan and we all saw how that went. I mean, what is the man going to do? Go office to office (well, GOP Senator's office to GOP Senator's office) and try to convince them that she's a good pick? The Republican led Judicial Committee gave her her questionnaire back for more info... and that has never happened before...and neither apparently has a nominee had such a reaction...

And since she's not prone to giving up too much information about her views, the committee is setting up an special inquiry, calling in folks she has apparently talked to...like James Dobson of Focus on The Family (the guy who claimed that SpongeBob was gay -or at least that his showing up on an educational video promoting tolerance was a bad thing) who said this recently:

"When you know some of the things that I know -- that I probably shouldn't know -- you will understand why I have said, with fear and trepidation, that Harriet Miers will be a good justice,"

He's-to me-a fruit loop who's worried about gay cartoon characters...and not helping the nomination by announcing he knows more about Miers' views than the judicial committee, but this is a moment when I'm kinda glad that there are conservatives like him out there to question who could essentially put a nail in the coffin...

And speaking of nails in coffins...Bill Frist...

AND...this rally could happen sooner than later as Code Pink wants to mark the 2,000 military death in Iraq with a peace rally in Times Square (check their website for a rally in your town). As of this morning it was at 1,996. ...just boggles the mind...

Yep, the White House is indeed twitching...and it's about damn time...get out your bingo cards, folks..

AND KEEP E-MAILING!!!!

It was Libby's fault!!!

So it appears that Rove got his info from Scooter Libby...or some other anonymous source in the White House (wonkette believes that anonymous source is Miss Spellings). And Libby assistant John Hannah (no relation to the guy from Four Weddings and a Funeral), is saying "Jeepers! they might get ME!!" as apparently Libby got his info from Hannah..sort of. No matter how befuddling this is all getting, it proves that the two guys were talking about this woman and it "seem[s] to further undermine the White House's contention early in the case that neither man was in any way involved in unmasking Plame." *is that the sound of unraveling I hear?*

IN THE MEANTIME...I was unable to get into the Smoking Gun this morning, but thank goodness CNN had it...The Tom DeLay mugshot. That is the happiest darn mugshot I've ever seen. I'll bet he was positively giggling when they fingerprinted him. *"Denial...I've just met a boy named Denial..."*

And speaking of folks living in their own world...Wayne LaPierre of the NRA is of course just doing a happy dance as Congress just passed a ludicrous gun bill...his response: "What we've seen in Louisiana - the breakdown of law and order in the aftermath of disaster - is exactly the kind of situation where the Second Amendment was intended to allow citizens to protect themselves," I'm sorry I thought it was intended for, you know, defense from the British in the 1700's...my bad ...and if FEMA had actually been, you know, functioning, may be we wouldn't have had some of the chaos...but I guess that's just me...

And, I don't know if this has happened before-I'm thinking it hasn't, but apparently Harriet Miers' questionnaire was so poorly done, she's been asked to do it over...*picturing Harriet going back to Congress sheepishly taking back her paper from the head of the Committee...*

And to top it all off, an Australian freelance journalist has released footage of American soldiers desecrating the bodies of Taliban fighters...

So what is our president doing about it all? Ignoring it. He said today that he refuses to be distracted by the "backround noise" of all the political hoo ha happening around him *putting his hands to his ears and shouting "LA LA LA LA LA LA!"* Yeah, that's the way to "do [your] job"...Yep, juuuuuust ignore those cracks in the democracy....

But unlike our President, I know y'all are paying attention and hence will KEEP E-MAILING! E-mail, call, fax, write your friends and family, the press and your Congressfolk and let them know that you are not ignoring what's going on around the president and are doing YOUR job as American citizens...and as always, pass it on, pass it on, pass it on

Vice President Rice?!?!

Okay, it's only rumors...and of course I must help spread them...

According to US News and World Report (thank you Stephanie Miller Show and Mom for the tip), rumors are running rampant that Dick "grrrrr" Cheney could end up resigning thanks to an article in yesterday's Washington Post about Cheney's office being looked at more intensely in the Plame-gate case. Some say he'll leave for his health (the man has stents in his knees), some say he'll step down because the controversy. But we all know that he'll "resign" because of the controversy, but the White House will say it's for his "health". *"grrrr...I want to rrrr spend more time with my rrrrr family..grrrrr..{f***ers}"* Bush would then elect Condi *whipcrack* Rice (and her boots) to the VP status. (good thing? bad thing? scary thing? discuss...)

And Patrick Fitzgerald is cutting them no slack as he does something few in Washington, particularly Ken Starr during his prosecutorial days, do: he keeps his mouth shut.

IN THE MEANTIME...Oh Harriet...playing politics or no, actually checking off "yes" in a questionnaire for an anti-abortion group while campaigning for a City Council position that you would indeed support a ban on abortion in the state of Texas AND would attend pro-life rallies; if you don't think that stuff is going to come back and bite you, it just proves how wrong you are.

"They emerged one day after she assured two senators that no one knows how she would vote on Roe v. Wade..." *can you feel the dope slap?*

And I just love that the GOP response has been "Well, she was a politician then, now she's a judicial nominee...you can't hold her to such views..." Cause you know, we all say stuff we don't mean when trying to get elected; not like anybody's really paying attention...

and apparently she's not really paying attention to her paperwork as her nomination questionnaire "seems to be a bit rushed and not as carefully prepared as one would hope" according to Sen. Charles Schumer.

Oh and did I mention that Bush, though not recalling speaking to Miers about her views on a woman's right to privacy, knew about this questionnaire from her campaign days?...

and now...well you just have to go wonkette for the latest craig's list ad...and just go look at wonkette period...

So, have you called your Senator/Representative lately about the budget reconciliation up for vote? Nagging is a good thing. They dig it.

And speaking of making phone calls, people have got to stop making them here. I know I'm a receptionist and that's my job, but man, it's totally cutting into my personal time...

Before you let that happen to you, KEEP E-MAILING!!! E-mail, call, fax, write your friends and family, the press and your Congressfolk and let them know that you are PAYING ATTENTION!! and as always, pass it on, pass it on, pass it on.

Peace --Alex

Tuesday, October 18, 2005

cause it can't just be here...

Of course there's talk of election fraud in Iraq (we all know that Karl Rove is everywhere...)

and speaking of Karl Rove (evil genius), the poison is spreading as folks are now looking not only at him and "Scooter" as well as other's in Darth Cheney's office, but even Andrew Card is getting the once over...about darn time don't ya think?

And if you were wondering, when looking for your daily dose of DeLay denials, where Jack Abramoff had slunk off too, well look no further...

IN THE MEANTIME....

As if the government's severe lack of response wasn't enough, their way of paying for things is even worse. It's been in the papers and e-mails for some time about how Congress plans on cutting Medicaid and other social services that affect mainly the poor rather than cut taxes for top 1% of income earners, but that vote is coming up. MoveOn.org is trying to get up to 20,000 calls in to Congress today. If you haven't already gotten the e-mail from them, I suggest you call your Congressman and let them know that you think this is a not-so-great idea. (I'm on the phone with Senator Clinton's office right now...Shumer's office was busy, but will get back to them...and then to Charles Rangel)...okay got through to all 3 offices, voiced my opinion and Rangel will definitely be opposing the "budget reconciliation". Find out how you're people are going to vote!

And now keep your fingers crossed for the town of Taunton, MA (my Dad's home town) as there is a dam there on the verge of breaking due to last week's massive flooding. The whole center of town could end up under water should it break and the majority of the population has been evacuated. ...like we need any more natural disaters...(did I mention Hurricane Wilma?)

And as Harriet Miers makes her way around Congressional offices, trying to prove she's worthy beyond Bush's praise to be a Supreme Court Justice (particularly after, as reported in the Wall Street Journal yesterday that a couple of her supporters assured the President and his people that she would vote to overturn Roe V. Wade [can't get the article on line :(]), KEEP E-MAILING!! E-mail, call, fax, write your friends and family, the press and your Congressfolk and let them know that you are PAYING ATTENTION! and pass it on, pass it on, pass it on!

All right back to the phones and post-show slump...

and did I mention?

Other things leading George back to the bottle:

*A new book has info from a meeting with Tony Blair talking about how Bush was looking beyond Iraq to Saudi Arabia and Pakistan...DUH!

*A new report says that the White House ignored CIA reports on "Iraq Chaos"...

*and if you check the AP, apparently there's been a blackout in Baghdad caused by insurgents...as well as demonstrations for and against the Constitution...yep, they're ready for the vote...

*picturing Laura and a secret service guy "escorting" a twitching George W. to a neutral colored "happy room"...*

Wow that's one really big snowball...

We are on our 8th straight day of rain here in the Northeast, and it's getting to ME now, but at the same time of the downpours, it appears it's been snowing at the White House and things have just been snowballing ever since...

Let's see, we got:
* the rehearsal tapes from the Prez's conference with soldiers yesterday (aka grave attempt to show progress in Iraq before tomorrow's referendum). Even if this was an innocent rehearsal to help the soldiers "look articulate" before the President (who is just so articulate himself, isn't he?), you gotta know there's gonna be a problem when the line "And if the president asks anything we haven't scripted for him..." is included in the banter. The videotape of the rehearsal was aired on all three networks last night on the 6:30p news, I heard it on NPR as I made my way to Whole Foods and then saw it on the Today Show this morning...

*A Texas prosecutor looking for Tom DeLay's phone records

*The SEC issuing a subpeona to Bill Frist

*Karl Rove is still going through inquiries (and being haunted by the press like paparrazi on Jennifer Aniston...heh heh heh)

*People still think Harriet Miers is stupid...and she won't withdraw...(they just won't let gooooo!) And frankly I wanna know why religion wasn't a factor in Roberts' nomination, but it was for Miers?

*Iraq still a mess

*oh and here's some icing - Harold Pinter, gifted playwright and anti-war activist (called the United States a "monster out of control" at a rally in 2003) got the Nobel Prize for Literature.

I'll bet there's an IV of Jack running into the chair in the Oval Office...but maybe that's just me...

Things could go down yet!

all right, time go check on my wet socks and see if there's a hair dryer somewhere to blow dry my shoes, socks and the calves of my pants (it's been two hours since I got back from lunch and I'm still damp...and breathing in the mold and mustiness from the leaks that broke out yesterday here in my lobby...looooovely...but before you get out the hot toddy, pjs, and blanket or person to curl up with once ya get home, I say KEEP E-MAILING!!!!

Peace --Alex

Wednesday, October 12, 2005

I told you he looked sketchy...

So i wasn't the only one who felt that the Prez wanted to run when being asked about Karl Rove, among other things...

"this much could be seen watching the tape of NBC's broadcast during Bush's 14-minute pre-sunrise interview, in which he stood unprotected by the usual lectern. The president was a blur of blinks, taps, jiggles, pivots and shifts. Bush has always been an active man, but standing with Lauer and the serene, steady first lady, he had the body language of a man wishing urgently to be elsewhere."

Yeah, ya think? *why can't I just be back in Crawford?...I think that awful Sheehan woman went back to...wherever she's from..."*

And other things that are surely making him twitch? The response to Harriet Miers' response to Sen. Leahy's simple question of "Which Justices do you most admire?" She apparently responded a bit nervously with "Warren". Leahy asked whether it was Warren Burger or Earl Warren and she said "Warren Burger". Well, here's a little blip on Warren Burger:

"Burger is most often remembered among court historians as "not a terribly successful chief justice," said Mark V. Tushnet, a Georgetown University law professor. Before being appointed to the high court, Burger advocated a strict-constructionist view of the Constitution, which many conservatives thought would translate into opposition to things such as school busing and abortion. But after President Richard M. Nixon appointed him chief justice in 1969, Burger frequently disappointed conservatives, never more so than when he concurred in the 1973 Roe v. Wa de decision guaranteeing the right to abortion."

Either this woman really isn't the sharpest tool in the shed or she's just really out to mess with everybody...*though personally I just don't think she's that smart...*

and the GOP still seems to feel the same way...

it's gettin' ugly folks...

Tuesday, October 11, 2005

so I was watching the Today show...

and there was George, standing there with Laura amidst the frames of houses built by Habitat for Humanity, both of them looking equally clueless about the use of a hammer, and Laura just inappropriately dressed for such work-even if just for a photo op. As Matt Lauer asked him questions about the federal response to Katrina-rather lack thereof-as well as about Harriet Miers and Karl Rove, George...well, he proved to me again why it is so hard to watch him speak as he stands there and twitches, chuckles, and looks mildly like a trapped animal as the questions get harder...particuarly when asked again about Karl Rove. He "stayed on message" saying that he couldn't comment on the "on-going investigation" (with a little look of "Help me!" in his eyes) And on the subject of Harriet Miers, Laura had to interject as George was losing his train of thought (not like there's a full track there anyway...)as well as adding that she felt that perhaps sexism was indeed a factor amidst the Miers criticisms. I think though, one of the best desriptions comes from The Note (as stolen from wonkette this morning):

"In a television interview on another network this morning LIVE from his Habitat event, the President committed no serious news, but he did laugh at a lot of the questions (for reasons any student of George W. Bush would well understand), and he did allow himself to be shown hammering purposefully, with a jejune combination of cowboy swagger and yuppie self-consciousness."

(can just picture John Roberts going "any guy that uses the word "jejune"...")

IN THE MEANTIME...speaking of Miers...someone's found some paper on her (2,200 pages...isn't that the amount of pages of stuff we still needed to get from the White House about John Roberts before confirming him?) and it includes a bit about her asking the former Gov. of Texas to veto legislation that would have protected a "handful of greedy, but immensely rich and powerful" trial lawyers. Bush not only vetoed the bill, but...still wants her?!? Oh wait, here's why (according to the New York Times):

""You are the best governor ever - deserving of great respect," Harriet E. Miers wrote to George W. Bush days after his 51st birthday in July 1997." *okay, who else is going "Like, WOW, you are the best governor EVER!" and also thinking "what kind of crack you on?!"*

and later she writes to him ""I appreciate your friendship and candor - never hold back your sage advice."" *um, if I had a beverage on me I think a serious spittake would have just occured...sage advice?!?!? I don't think George knows what "sage" means?!?!? Holy crap who is this woman?!?!?*

TELL YOUR SENATOR TO JUST SAY NOOOOOOOO!

And as long as you're talking to your Senators, you might want to ask how the Conservative ones could possibly be trying to cut back or completely take away social programs that deal with poverty when people in the Gulf Coast need these programs most...

And speaking of people caught in tragedy...say prayers, send positive energy, whatever you can do the people of Pakistan, India and Kashmir as the death toll of the earthquake that struck over the weekend is now up to around 30, 000. Unbelievable...and help has been hampered by storms...

And I suppose Yankee fans are also feeling some pain today as they lost to Anaheim *...snicker, snicker...*cough* was I chuckling? no that wasn't me...*heh heh heh* I look at it this way. It's the way of the baseball cosmos. If the Red Sox aren't in it, the Yanks can't be either...it's just not allowed. So go WHITE SOX! (they haven't won a World Series since 1917 so why the heck not them this time :)?

So while you do a happy dance or wallow in your coffee, or just figure out how you're going to get to the Estrogenius Festival at Manhattan Theatre Source this week, KEEP E-MAILING!!! Subway Threat?

So Mike Bloomberg comes on the news in the early afternoon yesterday and announces that security will be heightened on the subways as there has been a fairly direct threat to their safety. Homeland Security says the source of this threat is "doubtful", but I wouldn't trust Michael "Only 30'd people would die in subway bombing" Chertoff as far as I could throw him. It still hasn't kept me off the train, though.

I got on the A last night after rehearsal and didn't happen to see any extra cops so I guess they were either just stealth cops in hiding or they were still spreading out after Bloomberg's announcement. I did see a couple of cops when I got on the train this morning on the platform, but if there's really heightened security, I think it must be on the East Side.

IN THE MEANTIME...

Harriet Miers...You almost wanna like her cause the conservatives are so ripped about her as Bush's choice, but then again, we all know she's just NOT judge material...and Bush is STILL defending her (I was just thinking...did I hear properly when listening to NPR here that George was saying that she was a "kind thoughtful beautiful woman?"...while pleasant traits, I'm not sure that's all that counts for when deciding on my ability to choose...)

GAH! Again I ask, have the conservatives seen what a dumbass they've elected yet?

Our Lady of GWB...

Over the past couple of days there have been more reports about "Bush's Women"...all of them being "strong minded", "outspoken", much like the women surrounding W. during his youth AND then these women also have this one odd trait: a fierce devotion to George.

If you ask me, that's a reason right there not to confirm Harriet Miers, but, it's not for me-or anyone else with any sense, it appears-to decide. Though what is highly amusing is that the Republicans are actually crying "cronyism!" for the first time. It started with Mike Brown, with a Senator claiming that witht he hring of Brown to FEMA, Bush proved that he chose loyalty over qualifications. Um, yeah...have you LOOKED at his cabinet? He's been doing this from the get go...but only now are the Republicans all cranky over this...cause Bush didn't really choose one of their own.

Miers has many points on her side: urging the bigger law firms in Texas to take on pro bono work, often siding with workers and poorer folk in some of her law cases while at one of the largest corporate law firms in the state, volunteering herself and urging her fellow lawyers and those at other firms to do the same...

But then she also, after becoming a born-again Christian, switched from the Democratic Party to Republican, gave $3,000 to the Bush campaign and $5,000 to the re-count fund in 2000, and became a stalwart devotee of George W. Bush. And if she, as constantly quoted by the White House, follows his "judicial philosophy", then we got trouble right there.

George picked this woman cause she is loyal and has no paper trail, and hopefully the Dems will put up a fight on this one.

IN THE MEANTIME...Tom DeLay is fighting mad...and has new charges leveled against him...

Clinton hit Louisiana and looks, you know, presidential...

and Iraq still rages...remember them?...they supposedly have a referendum coming up and Bush's people I'm sure are trying to ignore the fact that the violence is getting worse and the Sunnis are still pissed...

AND if you missed Bill Bennet-morality pundit and gambling addict-making yet another ridiculous (biggoted, positively frightening yet not atypical of his ilk) comment that the White House has had to distance itself from, here's the scoop on that...

And after all that, I still ahve to answer phones here, send much love and positive energy to The Red Sox as after last night's...what I'll call "sacrifice" game...they MUST WIN TONIGHT 9and the rest of the damn series against Chicago as we must give the Yanks a rematch...and must humble them again :):):)

Oh and I must shamelessly plug the Estrogenius Festival at Manhattan Theatre Source. It's Week 4 next week featuring the plays Awake (MINE!), Oh Hell No!, Ice, Rock and Dust,Haunted, Love, Joel, and You Look Really Hot. The very patient ladies whom I've been directing in Awake are: Kate Rushing as Barbara, Helene Galek as Rose, Annette Guarrasi as Sandra and Elaine Anderson as Sophie. Head on down! October 12th-15 at Manhattan Theatre Source.

And after you visit the site and reserve your spot, KEEP E-MAILING!! E-mail, call, fax, write your friends and family, the press and your Congressfolk and let them know that you are paying attention and want more info on Miers and Iraq, and you don't want don't want the latest domestic budget cuts! and as always, pass it on, pass it on, pass it on :)

Miers? Miers?

Bush is already having to defend his nominee for the Supreme Court as even the conservatives don't think she's the sharpest tool in the shed (as was heard on Charlie Rose last night, a gentleman from the arch conservative Plato Institute stated "She says that George Bush is the most intelligent man she's ever met!"), and, as she has no judicial record, neither Dem nor GOPer can figure out what she stands for...other than the repeated phrase from Dan Barlett this morning on the Today show "the President's judicial philosophy"

Rush Limbaugh said that this was a decision made in "weakness"

Bill Kristol is "depressed and demoralized"

And Harry Reid is smiling a bit...understandable as come on, we all want to see Rush and Kristol and the conservatives go down in flames, but as we could potentially have another Thomas on our hands, there is indeed cause for worry.

I mean, we know that she is a serious Bush loyalist...this scary enough...

If you go to MoveOn.org, they are looking for volunteers to find info on her record and hopefully they will post all this shortly...anyone? anyone? have more info on this woman? eek?

Also, must apologize for lack of blogging as I was hip deep in my friend's fabulous wedding AND Red Sox baseball this past weekend...and now the Sox are in the playoffs...as are the Yankees...and again I will not be sleeping for a while...OY! Oh and did I mention I'm directing a show and had rehearsal Sunday night, last night, have rehearsal Wednesday and Thursday, Saturday Sunday, Monday, open dress Tuesday, opening night Wednesday...I think I'll sleep tonight but not really again til this sucker closes. Thank Goodness I am working with a wonderful cast who make my job all the easier.

But can I just say, while I am extremely glad the Sox got the Wild Card and have advanced, the Wild Card t-shirt and hats they are selling are ridiculous...

Peace --Alex
