Vice President Rice?!?!
Okay, it's only rumors...and of course I must help spread them...According to US News and World Report (thank you Stephanie Miller Show and Mom for the tip), rumors are running rampant that Dick "grrrrr" Cheney could end up resigning thanks to an article in yesterday's Washington Post about Cheney's office being looked at more intensely in the Plame-gate case. Some say he'll leave for his health (the man has stents in his knees), some say he'll step down because the controversy. But we all know that he'll "resign" because of the controversy, but the White House will say it's for his "health". *"grrrr...I want to rrrr spend more time with my rrrrr family..grrrrr..{f***ers}"* Bush would then elect Condi *whipcrack* Rice (and her boots) to the VP status. (good thing? bad thing? scary thing? discuss...)
And Patrick Fitzgerald is cutting them no slack as he does something few in Washington, particularly Ken Starr during his prosecutorial days, do: he keeps his mouth shut.
IN THE MEANTIME...Oh Harriet...playing politics or no, actually checking off "yes" in a questionnaire for an anti-abortion group while campaigning for a City Council position that you would indeed support a ban on abortion in the state of Texas AND would attend pro-life rallies; if you don't think that stuff is going to come back and bite you, it just proves how wrong you are.
"They emerged one day after she assured two senators that no one knows how she would vote on Roe v. Wade..." *can you feel the dope slap?*
And I just love that the GOP response has been "Well, she was a politician then, now she's a judicial nominee...you can't hold her to such views..." Cause you know, we all say stuff we don't mean when trying to get elected; not like anybody's really paying attention...
and apparently she's not really paying attention to her paperwork as her nomination questionnaire "seems to be a bit rushed and not as carefully prepared as one would hope" according to Sen. Charles Schumer.
Oh and did I mention that Bush, though not recalling speaking to Miers about her views on a woman's right to privacy, knew about this questionnaire from her campaign days?...
and now...well you just have to go wonkette for the latest craig's list ad...and just go look at wonkette period...
So, have you called your Senator/Representative lately about the budget reconciliation up for vote? Nagging is a good thing. They dig it.
And speaking of making phone calls, people have got to stop making them here. I know I'm a receptionist and that's my job, but man, it's totally cutting into my personal time...
Before you let that happen to you, KEEP E-MAILING!!! E-mail, call, fax, write your friends and family, the press and your Congressfolk and let them know that you are PAYING ATTENTION!! and as always, pass it on, pass it on, pass it on.
Peace --Alex
