YEE HA!

It is a truly gorgeous spring day here in NYC AND journalist Jill Caroll was at least released in Iraq. Happy Day!

Now if we could just get everybody else out of Iraq...

but it's not for lack of trying...there's that poll that says 72% of soldiers in Iraq, want out...and then there are these guys...

And..there's Ibrahim "get out of our politics!" Al-Jafaari, who, of course, Bush now wants out of office...like it's his choice...

And, of course, while he wants al-Jafaari out of office, Bush still has to blame Saddam Hussein for the unrest in Iraq...

IN THE MEANTIME...Bush and Vicente Fox are talking immigration Cancun...

Can you really have serious dialogue in Cancun? Let alone during SPRING BREAK in Cancun? *I'll bet this is the first conference Bush has had no qualms about travelling to..."Cancun? Why I remember this one time I was down there...oh, sorry Laura..."*

And while Bush is away his new Chief of Staff (yes it really IS true, Andy Card [was allowed to/asked to/sacrificed] resigned) Joshua "the economy is GREAT! Mr. President!" Bolten is already out to make some ch-ch-ch-changes...

And then the rest of the GOP is just eating their own...I would like to think that this is whythe Dems are not flocking to join Russ Feingold in asking for censure of the president...they a) are just watching the GOP turn into Lord of The Flies and/or b) they are waiting to see if the Dems to indeed get to take over at the end of 2006.

Like you need an excuse to censure THIS president?!?!?!

Yes, it's fun to watch the GOP crumble and Bush twitch more, but man, censure must happen. There's actually REASONS to censure him so KEEP E-MAILING!!! Email, call, fax, write you friends and family, the press and your Congressfolk and let them know that you are PAYING ATTENTION!!! And definitely pass it on, pass it on, pass it on!

P.S. I love Canada, and of course, like many, considered running up there after the last election, but this seal hunt is just unconscionable...it really is a time to "Blame Canadaaaa!"

focus? who can focus?

You know for all the times we complain that the Democrats have no focus against the GOP and the administration, ya gotta think, how can they focus on one thing right now? The president et al have screwed up SO MANY things, where do ya start?

Iraq?
Medicare?
Immigration?
Education?
Abortion?
Wire-tapping?
The environment?
The Dubai Ports deal?
Afghanistan?
The deficit?
The re-working of Constitutional laws?
Karl Rove's leaking the name of a covert CIA operative?
Dick Cheney shooting a friend in the face?

I mean, really, the only thing to focus on is to get this man out of office, and if we can't do that, we can at least try to take Congress back and make sure Bush can't do too much else right now.

The Republicans are eating their own right now over at least Iraq, the wire-tapping, Dubai, and immigration. They'll keep at this while we make sure Congress goes Democratic.

Send a note to your Senator and representatives and tell them to focus on the 2006 elections right now. Much as I want them to focus on everything else, we can't fix the rest until the GOP loses their stranglehold on Congress.

Then, you find out who the viable candidates are in your state and SUPPORT THEM!

This is something we can do to raise that handbasket before it fully falls to hell...

3 years...

This weekend, we mark the 3rd anniversary of the Iraq War. Protests were held all over the world yesterday. It is said that organizers found that crowds were smaller than expected but, while the crowds may have been smaller, they still got out there; the people are still upset and still want out. And more people feel this way everyday. 72% of the soldiers in Iraq want us out of Iraq by the end of the year. 34% of the American people still support the president. 80% of Iraqis think the violence will deteriorate in their country if the US leaves. In a new CBS poll, 47% of those asked said if was not very likely that we would succeed in Iraq compared to 15% who believed that we woul succeed. William Bennett said on CBS Sunday morning that radical Islam is on the rise and we must be the ones to stop it. What he fails to realize is that is on the rise right now because of our occupation which has inspired so many to join the radicalists.

It is time to get out of Iraq. It is time to let Iraq govern itself and actually be the independent nation the administration intially claimed it wanted it to be.

Strategery...

George does not like change. He wants to make his tax cuts permanent (even though the deficit is RIDICULOUS), does not want to change his Medicare plan (even though it's too confusing for anyone to sign up for), and he wants to "stay the course" in Iraq (despite the growing sectarian violence that is essentially the pre-cursor of civil war). He has had very little staff turnover (no matter how many times Rumsfeld has actually tried to resign), and he does not take bad news well.

And he believes that "preemption" is still a viable strategy for war.

Will someone please tell me that the Secret Service, on the orders of the White House medical staff are heading up to the Oval Office with a straight jacket and horse tranquilizers to take this crazy childish man away. Satan's helpers (Dick Cheney and Karl Rove) may have to take over for a while, but if all goes well with the 2006 elections (good God can the Dems get it TOGETHER for this PLEASE?!?!?), they won't be able to do anything anyway. (Until they decide to cryogenically freeze themselves, fly into space and come back in 30 years and try to "TAKE OVER THE WORLD!")

Does it just feel like people do not realize just how much more frightening this man becomes with each year in office?

And speaking of scary people...Not sure if this is payback for Michael Brown saying that Katrina response was "ALL THE WHITE HOUSE'S FAULT!" (and possibly leaking that video of the meeting had the day before where Bush indeed was told how bad it was gonna be), but it sure looks like it. Apparently Brown "circumvented his boss...Michael Chertoff, in trying to manage the federal response to Hurricane Katrina directly with the White House..." 'What do you MEAN you went to the White House first? They don't know how to handle a disaster! Hell look at Iraq...'

And speaking of disasters...the World Trade Center monument in NYC. It has been over 4 years since 9/11 and has anyone even started buidling the supposedly planned "freedom tower" and monuments? NO. The infighting continues...it's insulting...

CENSURE! IMPEACHMENT! EXHAUSTION!

So yesterday Russ Feingold told George Stephanopolous and the world that he was going to ask Congress to censure the president. Sounds like a plan to me. I suggest sending a note to your Senator asking them to sign on to this :). What I love, though, is how, when asked by Stephanopolous why he wasn't out right looking for impeachment, he kinda started getting all, you know, political, trying to spin why censure is enough. I just want SOMEBODY to say outright "Impreachment? yeah he deserves it, but look who takes over for him? And if Dick gets impeached (or is just too far from his medical staff) look who's after that? And after that? It just gets worse and worse!!! We'll stick with a censure and let the coup happen later..."

BUT...John Conyers is looking to impeach and is looking for folks to be citizen co-sponsors of his impeachment legislation. The case is there, and wants help from everybody to back it up.

One thought I had when I got the John Conyers email after seeing Russ Feingold thought was "this is what is wrong with the Dems right now. They all gotta talk to each other, man"

And speaking of Dem issues...

But in the meantime, we may not even have to worry about the Dems and their message...the White House Staff is apparently just ready to snap anyway...things have been slowly imploding as it is, but it's really beginning to show...

And, Claude A. Allen's mother told him he shouldn't go Republican...

things are definitely getting interesting...so KEEP PAYING ATTENTION!!! even if your day job is makin you work today like mine!

too pretty to be mad...

It is a GORGEOUS late spring style day outside...sunny...light clouds...upper 60's...and I find crule and unusual that I had to back in from having a lovely lunch in Central Park...it's almost too pretty outside to be mad about anything...but then again, may I remind you of who we have in office...

Still let's look at the some of the positivity:

*Yesterday, there was a rally in Union Square just made of up of women thinking of and defending the women of South Dakota.

*Code Pink got a petition signed by over 100,000 women against the war in Iraq delivered to the White House

*Dubai Ports World has pulled out of the port deal made with the White House due to mounting pressure from Congress and the public. The GOP actually messed something up for the President rather just rubber stamping it. No matter if this was a safe deal or not (though knowing this administration, it at least was sketchy), it's nice to know that George woke up cranky this morning...and because of his own people.

*Apparently Republicans are finally getting the message that George is a petulant dumbass as well, according to a recent poll more of them believe the President and his cronies are not doing such a great job afterall...particularly as a majority of Americans believe a civil war will break out in Iraq...

*Nothing is firm in an election year...the Budget Committee has sent Bush's budget plan back to him sans his tax breaks and cuts to medicare...

*and Planned Parenthood has started and Action Fund to fight states, including New York from turning into South Dakota...it is a sad time when we have to worry about this...

IN THE MEANTIME...

things still be pissed about:

The Boston Archdiocese has decided to halt adoptions from their branch of the Catholic Charities as Massachusetts has anti-discrimination laws that will not allow them to ban gays from adopting children. 8 members of the Catholic Charities board resigned in protest last week (applauding them), but I think the Boston Archdiocese could use a note from you about this. Gay couples are ready to offer safe, loving homes to children who need them and to even consider closing off a good sized section of the populus to these children is a disservice to both the ready and willing couples and the children. Of course, Mitt Romney begs to differ...BASTARDS!!!!!!
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/gay_adoption;_ylt=AoHsx5cROoC6L2DAJoLU8fus0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTA2Z2szazkxBHNlYwN0bQ--

*The President and the EPA want to make it easier for polluters to hide their polluting...

so what do you do? KEEP EMAILING!!! Email call write fax your friends and family, the press and your COngressfolk, and let them now that you are PAYING ATTENTION!!! And perhaps remind the Democrats to get some focus for 2006, let alone 2008.

everybody's eating the brown acid...

cause why the hell else would Tom DeLay WIN his GOP primary in Texas?

then again, it is Texas...

And we have to remember that, despite the allegations, idictment and even recently rendered GOP jail time, these buggers are still in power the prime examples being:

The Patriot Act (with some moderations) has been returned to Bush's desk for his 'X'...

AND the GOPers in the Senate, after negotiating with Satan-I mean Dick Cheney, have decided that they do not need to open a proper investigation of illegal wire-tapping. See, in this new little piece of leglisation, there will be a new 7 member subcommittee started up called the "terrorist survelillance subcommittee" to which the White House will have to report all the details of the [illegal wire-tapping] NSA program. But basically the White House will be the ones giving out the "detailed info"...some people got some favors taken care of by the sound of it. Or were threatened (*grrr* "See, uh...we tapped some of your phones and well...)

And speaking of Dick threatening people...yesterday he decided to threaten Iran with "meaningful consequences" if they did not put an end to their evil nuclear plans. He appears to not realize that they are most likely building nuclear weapons cause they're afraid of US...they've seen Iraq..they don't want that kind o' mess. (makes me think of a recent sung re-wording of a blues song "gonna flush ya out and shoot ya, Mr. Cheney told me so") So, of course, Iran says they will cause "harm and pain" upon the US (particularly when they get that first bomb made)...

Though Dick can't get to everybody...yet...apparently the Senate plans on blocking the Dubai/ports deal, and there are more Republicans hoppin' mad about this than anybody...*and all of a sudden on the floor of Congress, various outspoken Republicans collapse...no one taking notice of Darth Cheney using his powers of the Dark Side...*

So while ducking from Dick's gaze, KEEP E-MAILING! E-mail, call, write, fax your friends and family, the press and your Congressfolk and let them know that you are PAYING ATTENTION!!! and as always, pass it on, pass it on, pass it on!

Unfrickin'believable!!!!

We just are truly headed to hell...

well, if not hell, the dark ages as the religious right keeps pushing forward...

It just boggles the mind that these people have been able to get away with so many un-Christian things making me angry enough to wish many un-Christian punishments upon them.

South Dakota has banned abortion and 9 other states including Mississippi are out to do the same, all because the Supreme Court is taking up that one case and could essentially overturn a woman's right to make this decision for herself, hence thrusting us back to the back alleys, bleach and hangers. For all the peolple who have said "Oh they'd never overturn Roe v. Wade", well...look out people!

TIME TO CALL YOU CONGRESSFOLK AND YOUR GOVERNORS! This is just getting outrageous...

IN THE MEANTIME...Bush is out to reproliferate ("proliberate? yeah, that's what we did with Iraq innit?") the world with nuclear arms completely ignoring yet somehow I'll bet, still thinking that this has nothing to do with the nuclear nonproliferation treaty...

AND Bush is looking for his own version of the line-item veto...as he has not vetoed ANYTHING thus far during his time in office, you know there's got to be a reason for his asking for it now...

AND the voices (and names) of Guantanamo are out there...

there's just a whole lot of crazy goin' on...
