Strategery...
George does not like change. He wants to make his tax cuts permanent (even though the deficit is RIDICULOUS), does not want to change his Medicare plan (even though it's too confusing for anyone to sign up for), and he wants to "stay the course" in Iraq (despite the growing sectarian violence that is essentially the pre-cursor of civil war). He has had very little staff turnover (no matter how many times Rumsfeld has actually tried to resign), and he does not take bad news well. And he believes that "preemption" is still a viable strategy for war.
Will someone please tell me that the Secret Service, on the orders of the White House medical staff are heading up to the Oval Office with a straight jacket and horse tranquilizers to take this crazy childish man away. Satan's helpers (Dick Cheney and Karl Rove) may have to take over for a while, but if all goes well with the 2006 elections (good God can the Dems get it TOGETHER for this PLEASE?!?!?), they won't be able to do anything anyway. (Until they decide to cryogenically freeze themselves, fly into space and come back in 30 years and try to "TAKE OVER THE WORLD!")
Does it just feel like people do not realize just how much more frightening this man becomes with each year in office?
And speaking of scary people...Not sure if this is payback for Michael Brown saying that Katrina response was "ALL THE WHITE HOUSE'S FAULT!" (and possibly leaking that video of the meeting had the day before where Bush indeed was told how bad it was gonna be), but it sure looks like it. Apparently Brown "circumvented his boss...Michael Chertoff, in trying to manage the federal response to Hurricane Katrina directly with the White House..." 'What do you MEAN you went to the White House first? They don't know how to handle a disaster! Hell look at Iraq...'
And speaking of disasters...the World Trade Center monument in NYC. It has been over 4 years since 9/11 and has anyone even started buidling the supposedly planned "freedom tower" and monuments? NO. The infighting continues...it's insulting...
